Waste management training for students from various educational institutions in Keraniganj

Miah Abdul Hannan: He urged students to come forward with environment and cleanliness to make Dhaka district livable. Presenting as the chief guest at an advocacy meeting organized at Keraniganj Girls School of Keraniganj Model Police Station in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon, she said that cleanliness is not only the government`s responsibility, but also the social responsibility of every citizen. Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Ms Farida Khanam was present as the chief guest at the advocacy meeting on cleanliness and modern waste management organized at Keraniganj Girls School.

At that time, she said that small awareness initiatives of students can play an important role in building a clean society. Therefore, she urged everyone to be responsible to keep schools, homes and the surrounding environment clean.

The Deputy Commissioner, District and Magistrate also said that cleanliness and environmental protection, proper waste management should be ensured from the school itself. The Deputy Commissioner also commented that it is possible to turn the cleanliness program into a social movement through the participation of students.
At the end of the program, students were given hands-on training in modern waste management. During this time, the importance of separating waste at source was highlighted and practical training was given on storing different types of waste in separate red, blue and black bins. In addition, various techniques were taught to separate recyclable waste and keep the school campus clean.
At this time, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the activities of the school`s Clean School Team and exchanged views with the members. He said that the Clean School Team of each school will regularly monitor the cleanliness of classrooms, toilets, balconies, playgrounds and school premises. At the same time, it will also work on raising awareness about dengue prevention, removing stagnant water and dumping waste at designated places.
At the event, the Deputy Commissioner urged the headmasters of government and private schools in Keraniganj Upazila to further strengthen the activities of the Clean School Team in their respective institutions. The Dhaka District Administration expressed the hope that such initiatives to promote cleanliness and environmental protection by involving students will be further expanded in the future.
