| BSS) - Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today said the government will not tolerate any attempt by fugitive criminals or fallen fascist forces to create anarchy or destabilize the country.
"Fallen fascist forces, fugitive criminals or perpetrators of genocide will not be given any opportunity whatsoever to create instability in the country or fishing in troubled water," he said.
The minister made the remarks while briefing on the successful celebration of the Durga Puja.
His remarks came amid discussions on social media regarding claims that former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently abroad, would return to Bangladesh in December, as well as her statements made from overseas.
Ahmed also said no one would be allowed to exploit the situation to create unrest in the country.
Referring to efforts to bring Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh, the Home Minister said the government had repeatedly sent requests to the neighbouring country through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in accordance with the law and the extradition treaty.
He warned that despite any attempts by what he described as fascist forces to destabilize the country, those who fled following the mass uprising, as well as fugitive criminals, would not be allowed to engage in further subversive activities in Bangladesh.
The minister reaffirmed the government`s resolve to prevent attempts to undermine stability and maintain law and order, stressing that no group would be permitted to exploit the situation to create disorder.
The briefing focused on contemporary political developments and the government`s position on preventing unrest and maintaining stability in the country.
