A coach of the Chattogram-bound Mohanagar Express, traveling from Dhaka, derailed at Brahmanbaria Railway Station late Saturday night, causing panic among passengers.
Witnesses reported that around 11:45 PM, the front four wheels of the coach came off the tracks with a loud noise, spreading fear among the passengers. Several passengers were injured as they rushed to get off the train in a panic.
Passengers voiced concerns about the situation, urging authorities to ensure the use of well-maintained coaches, particularly with the upcoming Eid travel rush, to prevent accidents.
Brahmanbaria Railway Station’s Assistant Master, Sakir Jahan, confirmed that the derailment occurred in the ‘Jha’ bogie as the train was entering the station, shaking the entire train.
Since the incident occurred on a loop line, train services on both the up and down routes were unaffected. Authorities at Akhaura Locoshed were notified to recover the derailed train.
