Eid signifies joy and happiness. People return to their hometowns to share this joy. This year is no exception. The first leg of the journey for people heading home with advance tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr began today.
The Eid-ul-Fitr train journey commenced at 6:00 AM on Monday, March 24th, with the Dhumketu Express departing from Dhaka`s Kamalapur Railway Station for Rajshahi.
Additionally, trains operating across the country will run under special arrangements. Advance tickets for those traveling today were sold by Bangladesh Railways starting from March 14th, and this ticket sale continued until March 20th.
On-site observations revealed a rush of people heading home at the station. They arrived before dawn to ensure they didn`t miss their trains. Everyone`s face was filled with joy.
Arnab, a private university student, said, "Eid is still a few days away. But I bought the ticket in advance, thinking that the suffering might increase later. Accordingly, I am going home today to celebrate Eid with my mother and loved ones."
Nahid Hasan, a businessman, said, "No matter where one lives for work, everyone has an indomitable desire to return home for Eid. I had it too. So, I collected the ticket. Today I am going home to celebrate Eid with my parents. Like me, may everyone else`s journey home be auspicious and safe."
Meanwhile, to prevent ticketless passengers, constant security measures have been arranged at various stations across the country, including Kamalapur, Airport, Joydebpur, Chattogram, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi, and Khulna, with the cooperation of GRP, RNB, BGB, local police, and RAB.
At the same time, RNB, GRP, and railway employees` activities have been intensified on moving trains, stations, and railway lines to prevent sabotage.
Furthermore, initiatives have been taken to strictly suppress saboteurs with the active cooperation of RAB, BGB, local police, and other law enforcement agencies.
