| A four-member specialist medical team from the United Kingdom has arrived in Dhaka to oversee the treatment of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. They have joined the ongoing medical activities at Evercare Hospital.
The delegation, led by Dr. Richard Beale, visited the ICU on the fourth floor of Evercare Hospital on Wednesday (3 December). They reviewed Khaleda Zia’s current health condition and held preliminary discussions with the hospital’s local medical team.
According to hospital sources, the UK-based specialists have come to Bangladesh to develop an advanced treatment plan for Khaleda Zia and provide necessary medical recommendations. Coordinating with the local team, they will monitor her overall condition.
BNP leaders have expressed hope that Khaleda Zia’s treatment will improve with the involvement of the foreign specialists.
On the night of 23 November, Khaleda Zia was brought from her Gulshan residence, Feroza, to Evercare Hospital for a health check-up. Following the advice of the medical board, she was admitted to the hospital. Since then, her health has deteriorated. She has been suffering from various long-term complications, including arthritis, diabetes, kidney and lung problems, and eye-related issues.
