Thirteen people were killed and five others injured in lightning strikes across eight districts, according to reports from Jago News correspondents.
In Cumilla, four people, including two schoolchildren, died, and two were injured.
The deceased are Jewel Bhuiyan, 35, of Deora village, Muradnagar upazila; Nikhil Debnath, 60, of Korbanpur Paschim Para, Muradnagar; Md Fahad Hossain, 13, of Payalgachh village, Barura upazila; and Mohammad Jihad, 14, of the same area.
In Kishoreganj, three farmers died in Ashtagram and Mithamain: Phulesha Begum, 65, of Raniganj Kewarjor, Mithamain upazila; Indrajit Das, 36, of Halalpur village, Ashtagram upazila; and Idris Mia of Khairpur village, Ashtagram. A student, Swadhin Mia, 14, was also injured.
In Netrakona, 10-year-old madrasa student Arafat Mia, son of Abdus Salam, died in Tiyashree village, Madan upazila, while heading to school.
In Sunamganj, Rimon Talukder, 22, a second-year bachellor’s student at Shalla College, was killed in Burigangal Haor, Atgaon village, Shalla upazila.
In Habiganj, farmer Durbasa Das, 35, died while harvesting paddy in a haor in Baniachang upazila, with three others injured: Bhushan Das, 34, Sudhanya Das, 28, and Bayezid Mia, 13, of Baghata village.
In Shariatpur, Sefali Begum, 35, wife of Sohrab Hossain Bepari, died in Bepari Kandi, Sakhipur union, Bhedarganj upazila, while collecting grass for her cows.
In Madaripur, farmer Kajal Baroi, 40, son of Gyan Baroi, was killed in Bajitpur village, Rajoir upazila, while harvesting paddy.
In Jashore, farmer Amir Hossain, 40, son of Korban Ali, died in Beri-Narayanpur village, Sharsha upazila, in the afternoon.
