Iran`s Top Cleric Issues Fatwa Against Trump and Netanyahu
  30, June, 2025, 11:34:41:AM

International Desk : In a significant religious decree, Iran`s top Shia cleric, Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, has issued a fatwa against US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to a Fox News report on Monday, June 30, citing the New York Sun, the prominent Iranian cleric has declared Trump and Netanyahu "enemies of Allah" and urged the Muslim world to unite against them.

In his fatwa, Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi stated, "Any person or ruler who threatens global Islamic leaders or top religious figures will be considered a `warmonger` or `Mohareb`."

Under Islamic law, "Mohareb" refers to an individual who has declared war against Allah. Iranian law stipulates that those who wage war against the Creator can face penalties such as execution, crucifixion, amputation, or exile.

The fatwa further declared, "Any form of cooperation or support from Muslims or any Islamic state for these enemies is illegal and forbidden. All Muslims should make these enemies regret their words and actions."

This comes after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed in an interview following a ceasefire that Israel had planned to assassinate Iran`s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the recent 12-day conflict but did not get the opportunity.

Speaking to Israeli Channel 13, Katz stated, "We wanted to eliminate Khamenei; if we had seen him, we would have finished him off."

Furthermore, on June 17, during the conflict between the two nations, US President Donald Trump also hinted at assassinating Khamenei. In a social media post, Trump wrote, "We know very well where the so-called `Supreme Leader` is hiding. He is an easy target, but currently safe—we are not killing him now. At least not now."

The intense 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel began on June 13, with Israel launching bomb attacks that killed top Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists. In retaliation, Tehran launched missile attacks on Israeli cities.

At one point, the United States joined Israel in attacking three Iranian nuclear facilities. Tehran retaliated by launching missile strikes on US bases in Qatar. The conflict concluded on June 24 with a ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, mediated by Qatar and the United States.
