Dhaka University (DU) marks its 105th founding anniversary on Tuesday with grand celebrations themed "Building an Inclusive and Non-Discriminatory Society: Role of Dhaka University."
The prestigious institution began its academic journey on 1st July 1921, will host day-long festivities across campus.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan will lead a colourful procession at 9:45 AM, following a vibrant rally gathering teachers, students, alumni, officers and staff at Smriti Chirantan monument at 9:30 AM. "This milestone reflects our commitment to fostering inclusive education," organisers stated.
The inauguration ceremony commences at 10 AM at TSC`s Payra Chattor, featuring flag hoisting, ceremonial cake cutting and musical performances by the Department of Music.
International students will present special cultural performances, highlighting the university`s diverse community.
Professor Dr S M A Faiz, Chairman of University Grants Commission Bangladesh will deliver the keynote paper during a discussion session at 10:30 AM in TSC auditorium.
Pro-Vice Chancellors Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will attend as special guests.
Classes remain suspended from 10 AM to 12 PM, though examinations continue as scheduled.
Vehicular access through Nilkhet and Fuller Road entry points will be suspended from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Key landmarks including Vice-Chancellor`s Building, Curzon Hall, Arts Building and TSC have been brilliantly illuminated for this momentous occasion.
