Missing HSC candidate rescued from Savar: RAB
  30, June, 2025, 3:11:43:PM

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has rescued an HSC examinee who went missing after leaving home for her exam in Dhaka on Sunday (June 29).

The student, Mahira Binte Maruf Puli, an HSC-2025 candidate from Mirpur Government Bangla College, was found in the Savar area late Sunday night, June 29, according to RAB-4.

Additional Superintendent of Police KN Roy Niyati, operations officer of RAB-4, confirmed the rescue.

He said Mahira, who resides in the Bhatara police station area, had left her home around 8:00 am on Sunday to attend her HSC exam at Mirpur Government Bangla College Centre.

The exam was scheduled to end at 1:00 pm, but when she failed to return, her family went to the exam centre and were told that she never showed up, he added.

After searching unsuccessfully, the family lodged a general diary (GD) at Bhatara Police Station, under the Gulshan Division of DMP.

RAB then launched a shadow investigation and conducted a raid in the Savar area.

Quoting Mahira, RAB said that while on her way to the exam centre, she was approached by an unknown woman. During their conversation, the woman allegedly held an anesthetic substance to Mahira’s nose, causing her to lose consciousness.

When she regained consciousness, Mahira found herself in a room she did not recognize. She eventually managed to leave the location, after which a RAB team identified her whereabouts and rescued her.

Following initial legal procedures, the girl was handed over to her family, said RAB.
