Four people were killed and and at least 20 injured after a running bus hit a truck on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj`s Sreenagar early Saturday.
The injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). The physicians said some of the injured are in critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Zillur Rahman, 65, Dr Jalal, 65, Abdul Halim, 55; and Hasib, 32, son of Md Bappi.
The accident occurred near the midpoint between Singpara-Nauapara and Hasara Bridge-2 at about 3:20AM when a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to `Hamdan Express` from Jashore hit a running truck from behind, said Shafiqul Islam, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Following the collision, both vehicles lost control and crashed into the railing of the expressway`s median strip.
Two died on the scene.
Getting information, Sreenagar Fire Service rushed to the scene and rescued the injured. They sent them to Dhaka hospital where two of the injured succumbed to their injuries.
